Formulation of Kings Arts Council

Writer's picture: Silgo86Silgo86

A proposal has been made to establish a Kings County Arts Council. Currently, every county in California has an arts council, except for two, and Kings County is one of them. This proposal consists of three phases, with the first phase being to gauge interest in the council.

A meeting is scheduled for January 24th in Hanford, at the Lil’ Brick Theater, starting at 5:30 PM. The arts council will promote the arts in the community through a variety of programs, services, and funding opportunities, including:

- Providing grants and awards to local artists and arts organizations.

- Events: Organizing events such as art exhibits, concerts, and performances.

- Programs: Developing and producing arts programming, including workshops and performance series.

- Services: Offering technical resources, research, and professional development services.

- Partnerships: Creating public and private partnerships.

- Vision: Establishing a vision for the arts that reflects the community's needs and long-term strategies.

- Awareness: Raising awareness of the value of the arts.

- Cultural Heritage: Preserving cultural heritage and diverse artistic traditions.

- Economic Development: Contributing to local, regional, state, and national economies.

This meeting is open to artists, supporters of the arts, and those who are interested in the arts. It presents a valuable opportunity to be involved in the early stages of something significant. The location is the Hanford Multicultural Theater Company, which is situated at 119 ½ N. Douty Street in Old Downtown Hanford.
