Founded in 1979, The Fresno Arts Council was established to be a support to and advocate for the Arts in Fresno County. Today, we serve as the State Local Partner to the California Arts Council by designation of the Fresno County Board of Supervisors and we are the City of Fresno’s arts agency by Memorandum of Understanding. The Council has a history of developing new and innovative programs that provide opportunities for working artist and arts organizations. We are best known in the community for ArtHop, but we also manage public art projects, teaching artists in the schools and correctional institutions. Our unique range of services and specialized skill sets allow us to customize services to the arts community.
About The Position The Kings County Arts Council Coordinator oversees development and implementation for the establishment of an Arts Council in Kings County. The successful applicant will work in Kings County. This position works closely with the Executive Director of the Fresno Arts Council to ensure compliance with all grants and contracts related to this new opportunity for Kings County. The successful candidate Oversees communications and planning to ensure quality programs, events, and service are created, implemented and established for this new Arts Council. In addition, this position serves as the Media specialist responsible for preparing any press releases or press interaction on behalf of the Kings County Arts Council Steering Committee. The individual carries out routine tasks and responsibilities with minimal supervision; however, support and direction are available as needed for projects and activities. This is a mentor, mentee relationship with the Fresno Arts Council. The success of this program could lead to a full time position in Kings County.
Distinguishing Characteristics:
This position requires an articulate, professional, and well-mannered individual able to multi-task throughout the day and maintain a calm, organized and clean working environment. This position requires some supervision skills. Ability to develop high quality, accurate documents, and reports. The position requires someone who can troubleshoot, analyze, and problem-solve, and apply what he/she has learned to future projects. Should be an artist or patron of the arts-who has current or previous experience in the arts. Have a good understanding of the many art disciplines; and have the capacity to identify learning opportunities and willingness to develop new skills. Knowledgeable and well-versed in the demographics and art assets of Kings County is preferred.
Responsibilities
· Oversee all aspects of Kings County Arts Council development and execution of programs
· Compose and distribute correspondence, maintain files including organization records.
· Work with FAC to establish the Kings County Arts Council as a Non-profit organization.
· Produce informational documents
· Attend community meetings.
· Make presentations to government officials.
· Oversee and manage Special Events
· Maintain Community partner databases.
· Oversee electronic communications and Website development.
· Ensure program records are properly maintained and readily accessible upon request.
· Recommends marketing and promotional strategies, and coordinates creation and production of marketing/promotional materials
· Handle routine day-to-day activities and work on special projects as needed
· Work week Monday – Friday, 4 hours per day.
Qualifications
· Must be well organized
· Possesses good computer skills including word processing, database data entry
· Demonstrated ability to trouble shoot and learn new computer programs
· Demonstrated proficiency with a variety of telecommunications and software programs including Microsoft Office.
· Demonstrated knowledge in grant writing and other fund development activities.
· Excellent oral and written communication skills
· Some Education in business, marketing, nonprofit management, education or communication field. Experience may be substituted for education in the primary areas required for the position.
· A basic understanding of accounting, budgeting and analyzing financial statements.
· Previous experience in event planning and marketing
· Strong project managing skills
· Deadline and detail-oriented
· Ability to work well in teams
· Valid driver’s license to operate a non-commercial vehicle
· Reliable transportation
Salary
· $20.00 per hour
· Three days of sick leave
· This is a part-time, non-exempt position.
· This position reports to the Executive Director of the Fresno Arts Council
Work Environment / Physical demands
· Duties are performed In-Person, office setting.
· Execution of responsibilities may require work beyond the standard workday and workweek.
· Occasionally, must be able to move office supplies and equipment weighing up to 15 pounds across the office.
