HMTC – Technical Director Scott Yarbrough

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Scott Yarbrough, who left us last Saturday. He is survived by his wife and a loyal dog named Moses.

Scott made significant contributions to our nonprofit organization, using his technical expertise to elevate our efforts to a professional level that impressed many outside observers. Since 2018, he served as the technical director for the Hanford Multicultural Theater.

For those who may not know, Scott was a skilled technician who designed and programmed our entire security system, as well as the lights and sound for the Lil’ Brick Theater. He also managed these systems in a previous venue and programmed all our shows. We valued his innovative ideas and greatly appreciated the countless hours he dedicated to our theater.

In addition to his work with us, Scott supported local bands by providing lighting and sound for their performances. I witnessed his talent firsthand at a military event in Lemoore, where he meticulously adjusted the lights and sound for a band performing for veterans.

Scott had a passion for computer programming and especially enjoyed mentoring youth in lighting and sound design, teaching a group from a local junior high school.

One of Scott's most remarkable acts of kindness was rescuing Moses, a dog that was declared the longest-staying resident of a shelter. After spending nine years in the shelter, Moses found a loving home with Scott.

Moreover, Scott and his wife volunteered for Meals on Wheels, delivering food to program participants in their community.

Scott will be dearly missed, and we will always remember his kindness and dedication to our theater.
