We are excited to be in rehearsals for three original short plays. The plays will be shown at the Lil’ Brick Theater in old downtown Hanford in March and April. I’m pleased to share that everything is going smoothly.
The first play is BLIND QUINCEANERA, which features twelve—and thirteen-year-old performers. This play is especially relevant to our young actors, who enthusiastically bring their roles to life.
The second play is CLEAN. It is a humorous and meaningful play by Emmet Spaw, a playwright from Alma, Kansas. We selected this piece from over 150 submissions because it is a good platform for two of the actors we have been training. The message of the play truly stands out.
The third play, BIG BREASTS, explores themes of augmentation surgery and the quest for attention. This story revolves around two sisters and is performed by two actual sisters, adding an authentic touch to the narrative.
It's worth noting that five of the six actors are making their debut at HMTC with these productions.
We deeply respect our actors who step out of the box and try theater. What they discover is that the experience is worthwhile. We understand that they have to accommodate their school and work commitments to do a show. That is why we ensure that every minute of rehearsal is a meaningful experience.
